The Art of Building PeopleSM
workshops
and speaking topics offered for business groups, professional
associations, and non-profit organizations:
The
Elements of Breakthrough.
Does your group need a shot of inspiration to get things
done? Most of us are trained in the value of taking baby steps,
one-step-at-a-time, to achieve big goals.
Often times, it’s much faster if you can simply figure out a way
to skip ahead. Many
break-though innovations are the result of the not following the plan and
doing something completely different. You’ll learn the elements
necessary for break-through
thinking, and you’ll have a chance to practice looking for your
own breakthroughs. Many
break-through thinking examples will be presented throughout.
The Art of Building Strong Relationships.
Relationships can be both difficult and wonderful.
Bad ones take away our precious energy and great ones make us soar.
We will explore both our personal and business relationships.
We'll use a simple assessment tool to determine the quality of
specific relationships. You'll learn
ways to minimize the draining effects of negative relationships, ways to
strengthen so-so relationships, and ways to keep your great relationships
strong. You'll also learn what relationships will help you grow a business, strengthen
an organization, advance a career, and what to consider for creating new
relationships that can help you thrive.
We
all coach, but who's really listening? (A discussion of coaching styles in
a kaleidoscope world.)
A kaleidoscope is a good metaphor for diversity in the workplace. People
are colorful; no two are the same. Coaching
is also like a kaleidoscope. No
two coaches coach the same way, and no two clients respond to a coach in
the same way. Almost anyone who helps another person can be considered a
coach. However, that
definition becomes problematic as "coaching" becomes a buzzword
in today's world of work. Like
learning, there are different models and styles of coaching.
You'll learn two distinct coaching approaches that often go
undefined when organizations bring some form of coaching into the mix.
You'll also learn about eight specific coaching styles to further
shed light on what it means to coach someone.
Three problematic coach-client gaps will also be highlighted. Along
with gaining a deeper understanding of coaching models and styles, you'll
learn the primary coaching skills necessary to effectively coach almost
anyone.
Smart
Questions and 3-Level Listening.
Asking questions and listening are valuable, interlinked
skills. Contrary to what our
teachers taught us, not all questions are good questions. Some questions can ruthlessly tear people down.
You’ll learn what questions are smart questions and what
questions to avoid. You’ll
practice asking smart questions and listening to the answers using a
3-stage listening model that accesses your full range of senses, opens up
your intuition, and expands your awareness.

Get
Your Book Out!
The publishing industry is changing rapidly. You'll learn what it
takes to find a traditional publisher and why it might make more sense to
publish your book yourself. With the coming of
"Print-On-Demand" book printing technology, it's easier than
ever to become a published author. But that doesn't mean POD is a
good way to go. You'll learn the advantages and disadvantages of
traditional publishing and self-publishing options. You'll likely be
surprised which publishing route is best for you. You'll also learn
a few tips on how to write a book fast if you're still in the idea stage.
Customized
Talks on specific focus areas can be designed for special
training
needs.
All
topics can be delivered in half-day to full-day workshops, depending on
your preferences. Most topics will also work well as shorter
motivational keynotes or breakout
